“Branding is creating art!”
When I started Huny I envisioned it as an entire world created to celebrate women and all of the struggles that women encounter. I was creating unique feminine artwork and I wanted a way to share it with the world. I have always created art. Painting, designing and coming up with creative solutions comes naturally to me. Creating art is something that I feel TOTALLY comfortable and confident with.
BUT In 2018, I hit a ROUGH patch in both my personal life AND my work life. SO, I started HUNY as a creative outlet. I described it as a world of peace created to empower and celebrate women. I even used lyrics from the chorus of Imagine by John Lennon. You can read my first mission statement below.
“Welcome to Huny World. A world created to celebrate women and the challenges women face. A world created to commemorate everyone that celebrates women regardless of their gender or race. Welcome to a world that is curious about the choices we make and the standards we place. Welcome to a world that respects the funky female. The unique women, the divine feminine.
Imagine there’s no heaven. It’s easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us only sky. Imagine all the people living for today. Imagine there’s no countries. It isn’t hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for. And no religion, too. Imagine all the people living life in peace… You… You may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will be as one.”
Even though my business has evolved and changed. And I am more interested in creating brands than selling posters & stickers… My initial mission of celebrating women still stands strong. It was formed from an innate need for purpose and in a heat of passion. And it was born from truth. It was my creative outlet more than a business.
HUNY gave me purpose and it allowed me to connect with other people. I found so much joy in sharing business tips and meeting new people. I felt incredibly invigorated after art events. I was so excited to connect with people and share my art and talk about how other artists could share their art. I wanted to share valuable insights, I wanted to make everyone that came to my booth feel EMPOWERED and HAPPY.
I also LOVED creating the website and connecting the platforms and figuring out the business behind everything. I was SO OBSESSED with designing the HUNY brand and connecting with people. I would re-do my branding every few months for fun. BUT the message, the logo, the soul remained in sync.
I fell, serendipitously, into the world of branding. My constant research and passion for creating a purposeful artistic brand for myself drove me to discover what branding truly was. A brand is how you make people feel. A brand identity is the visual elements (logo, colors, fonts) that match your brand and attract your dream audience. At Huny Designs, I get to do both.
In order to create a sustainable business then we must express our purpose in a way that aligns with our values and is of service to our audience.
Branding allows me to create artwork that ACTUALLY empowers people. It gives purpose to my business and it has become my service.
I am proud of the empowerment, confidence and sustainable growth that I give to the world. I love the impact and service that I provide.
